Blue Ridge Parkway
One of Americas favorite drives, the Blue Ridge Parkway is a great place to see the mountains in all their glory.
The southern end of the drive starts in Cherokee and wraps around Maggie Valley and Waynesville as it heads north to its destination at the skyline drive in Virginia. You can spend a hour on the parkway or an entire day, depending on how much you want to see. If you are driving North you can take any of the exits and take a short cut back to town or continue on to Asheville but expect it to take two or more hours where it only takes 30 minutes by highway. Lots of twists and turns, tunnels, turnouts and trail heads dot the road. Favorite spots include, Waterrock Knob, Devil’s Courthouse, and Graveyard Fields. All great places to take short hikes.
